Event Report
The Department of Child Health Nursing conducted a World Sickle Cell Anaemia Awareness Programme to educate students about sickle cell anaemia, its causes, symptoms, prevention, and management. The programme included an informative lecture, interactive discussion, and role play to enhance understanding and encourage active participation.
Objectives
The programme aimed to explain the genetic nature, signs, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of sickle cell anaemia; promote early detection and health-seeking behaviour; and encourage students to share the information with families and communities.
Outcomes
Participants increased their knowledge of sickle cell anaemia. Students actively participated in the discussion and role play, demonstrating improved understanding of prevention and early diagnosis.
Sustainable Development Goals
The activity contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through health education and institutional collaboration.
