Event Report

BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences organised an awareness programme to educate students, staff, and the community about the prevention, early detection, and management of hypertension. It included health-education sessions, blood-pressure screening, and interactive discussions emphasising a healthy lifestyle. Faculty members and nursing students created awareness of the risks of uncontrolled hypertension and the measures needed to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Objectives

The programme aimed to increase awareness of hypertension and its complications, promote regular blood-pressure monitoring, encourage healthy dietary and lifestyle practices, educate participants about early diagnosis and treatment, and enhance nursing students’ role in community health promotion and disease prevention.

Outcomes

Participants improved their understanding of hypertension, its risk factors, and preventive measures. Screening enabled early identification of people at risk. The activities encouraged healthier habits and regular check-ups, while nursing students gained experience in health education and community engagement.

Sustainable Development Goal

The programme aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by encouraging preventive healthcare and early detection of non-communicable diseases.
