Event Report
The Department of Community Health Nursing, BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences (BGSINS), organized a World Hepatitis Day awareness programme on 28 July 2026 at the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Paramedical Sciences. The programme was conducted to create awareness about hepatitis, its causes, modes of transmission, prevention, early diagnosis, and the importance of vaccination and timely treatment. Nursing students actively participated by delivering health education, interacting with the audience, and promoting healthy practices to prevent hepatitis and improve public health awareness.
Objectives
The programme aimed to increase awareness about viral hepatitis and its impact on public health, educate participants on preventive measures such as vaccination, safe hygiene practices, and early screening, encourage healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of infection, and motivate individuals to seek timely diagnosis and treatment while promoting community participation in hepatitis prevention.
Outcomes
The awareness programme enhanced participants’ knowledge regarding hepatitis, its prevention, and the importance of early detection and vaccination. It encouraged positive health-seeking behaviour, strengthened awareness about infection control practices, and empowered the audience to adopt preventive measures and share health information within their families and communities.

The programme contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting disease prevention and early detection, SDG 4: Quality Education through health education and awareness, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by ensuring access to essential health information for all, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration between BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences and the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Paramedical Sciences in promoting community health.
