Event Report

The Department of Community Health Nursing, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Primary Health Centre, Kalinganahalli, participated in the National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme. Nursing students and healthcare professionals administered Oral Polio Vaccine drops to eligible children below five years and educated parents and caregivers about routine immunization and polio prevention.

Objectives

The programme aimed to vaccinate all eligible children below five, ensure no child was missed, create awareness of complete and timely immunization, strengthen community participation, and contribute to maintaining India’s polio-free status.

Outcomes

All eligible children were immunized. The programme enhanced awareness among parents, promoted participation by students and healthcare professionals, strengthened community involvement, and supported continued polio protection.

Sustainable Development Goals

The programme contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
