Institutional Educational Visit to Mathrubhoomi Home Care,

Event Report

The Department of Child Health Nursing, BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences, Adichunchanagiri University, organized an Institutional Educational Visit to Mathrubhoomi Home Care, K.R. Pete, on 28th August 2026. A total of 45 VI Semester B.Sc. Nursing students actively participated in the programme. The visit provided students with practical exposure to the care of children facing physical, mental, and social challenges. Students interacted with administrators, caregivers, and children to understand their needs and experiences. Therapeutic group games, recreational activities, musical performances, and cultural dance were conducted to promote joy and social interaction. Health education was provided on personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, food hygiene, and balanced diet. Gifts, essential materials, and financial support were provided to the children as a gesture of care and compassion. The programme enhanced students’ empathy, communication skills, therapeutic interaction, social responsibility, and spirit of service. The visit also promoted emotional wellbeing, companionship, dignity, and holistic nursing care for vulnerable children. The programme supported SDGs 3, 4, 10, 16, and 17 by promoting wellbeing, quality education, reduced inequalities, compassionate care, and community partnerships.
