Breastfeeding Week Celebration

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, BGS Institute of Nursing Sciences, organized a Breastfeeding Week Celebration on 10th August 2026 at General Hospital, Nagamangala, under the theme “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life; Strengthen What Works.” The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Adithya, Administrative Medical Officer, and Dr. Renuka Devi, Gynaecologist. The programme aimed to create awareness among antenatal and postnatal mothers regarding the importance of breastfeeding and supportive practices. 6th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students actively participated through a role play titled “Learn, Act, Impact” and a health education session titled “Knowledge Today, Healthier Tomorrow.” The programme concluded with a song dedicated to nurturing mothers and babies. The activity enhanced students’ communication, teamwork, leadership and health education skills while strengthening collaboration between nursing education and healthcare services. The programme contributed to SDGs 2, 3, 4, 5, 12 and 17, promoting optimal infant nutrition, maternal and child health, quality education, gender equality, sustainable feeding practices and institutional collaboration.
